Have you ever been stuck in a quandary or predicament, unsure what next steps you should take?
Well, there’s some great advice on this from author and thought leader, Daniel H. Pink, and it involves a 9-word mantra.
“What would I tell my best friend to do?”
The technique is referred to as ‘Self-Distancing’, and it works to overcome what Pink refers to as a glitch in our brains.
While most of us are quite good at helping others solve their problems, it turns out we are not so good at solving our own problems – largely because we are too close to them.
This question allows you to ‘zoom-out’ and see the bigger picture and find the solution.
